The worldwide demand for raw materials such as wood and paper reaches the remotest areas, considering pristine forests just as an industrial resource. Keeping in mind, that more than a hundred years ago with the rise of the National Park movement in 1894 John Muir was campaigning for a sustainable use of wilderness as a resource, today the pressure onto the last remaining untouched forests seems to be intensified even more.
